The Barbados Lumber Company Ltd. was incorporated on June 25th, 1973 and commenced trading at Waterford, St. Michael on December 1st, 1973.


The main business of the company is the retail of lumber, hardware and other building products for use in the construction industry.


Commencing with 7 employees in 1973, Barbados Lumber Company has developed into an established business with branches in Waterford and Speightstown, where in addition to lumber, a wide range of hardware, plumbing and electrical supplies are sold.


Apart from being a supplier of building materials of the finest quality, the company from its inception has established itself as a business house with a strong commitment to community service and therefore has in recent time been offering to its customers a wide range of domestic hardware, farm and garden and fishing supplies and equipment. The company is also involved in cultural and sporting activities such as cricket, the Crop Over Festival and the sponsorship of sports clubs – the Lakers Basketball club and the United Athletic Netball team (UAC) for over twenty-five (25) years, among others.


In 1978 the company played a pioneering role in the development of housing in Barbados, constructing some 500 units. This project assisted several middle and lower income Barbadian families to own and maintain their homes as Barbados’ first black owned lumber and building material establishment it is ever mindful of its mandate to be the premier provider in Barbados of affordable building products and services, satisfying our customers and being regarded as a good corporate citizen.
